George Kartalian

Dr. George Kartalian, Jr. MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, and his practice currently focuses on treatment of lower extremity problems with a special interest in tendon and ligament injuries. He incorporates sports medicine principles in his treatment protocols that he learned from his time as team physician for an ECHL professional hockey team and from his orthopedic training at Northwestern University.  Currently a physician at Town Center Orthopedic Associates in Virginia, George has a 25 year+ distinguished career practicing orthopedic surgery and advising in the medical and healthcare industries.

George serves as Chair of the Okeanos MedTech Advisory Board. In this role, he meets with founders in the medtech and biotech industry, leading due diligence and serving as a trusted advisor. With his extensive experience in the field, George brings firsthand experience and perspective on the impact of transformative medical technology, both in improving the efficiency and safety of procedures, but also enhancing the overall quality of patient care. As a member since 2017, George has helped with some of Okeanos’ biggest medtech investments, including playing a pivotal role with AdipoPharma SAS this year.

George is a sought-out expert in complicated orthopedic assessments, and he currently serves as a case management consultant for a NFL team and a MLS soccer team. Demonstrating his continued interest in innovation and entrepreneurship, George has been awarded four patents from the USPTO, and he is a consultant for an orthopedic startup company to develop their foot and ankle line of product offerings.

He has been named a Best Doctor by Washingtonian Magazine and Northern Virginia Magazine.

We are incredibly fortunate to have George leading our MedTech Advisory Board and as a long-standing Okeanos member. We look forward to seeing how his vision and expertise will continue to transform the field of medical technology in the years to come!
